人一生下来是与动物一样的自然存在物，通过家庭、学校、社会教育而成长为社会存在物。人的个性及其发展是社会环境的产物，几乎对每个人来说，家庭都是个体出生后接受社会化的第一个社会环境。家庭作为一个微观社会环境，在个体的教育和发展中占有十分重要的地位，家庭教育的作用也是其它任何教育机构所永远不能替代的。目前，我国社会正处在转型过程中，家庭规模与结构的改变，使家庭教育的功能发生了一定程度的变化并呈现出一些新的特点。
因此，通过对社会转型期家庭变化和趋向的分析，探寻独生子女家庭教育功能的变化和特点，并用于指导当前的家庭教育实践是非常必要的。
一、社会转型期中国家庭的变化和趋向
回顾中国数千年的历史与传统，中国社会长期以来以农业和手工业为经济主体，因此，中华民族历来崇尚多子女的大家庭。但是，从上个世纪70年代后期开始，我国政府不断认识到庞大的人口基数对于社会可持续发展所造成的严重阻碍，采取了“一对夫妻只生一个孩子”的计划生育国策。随着计划生育国策的实施，家庭的结构类型也日益从联合家庭、主干家庭向核心家庭转化。21世纪的前10年里，第二代独生子女将至少在城市家庭中普遍出现。中国家庭将出现人类历史上仅有的“4-2-1”结构，即四个老人（祖父母、外祖父母）加两个中年人（父母）和一个青年（独生子女）。
（一）家庭规模缩小，家庭结构趋向单一化，家庭中的人际关系趋向简单化
家庭规模与结构的变化将直接影响家庭中人际关系的变化。美国家庭问题专家沙波特指出，家庭中人际关系的复杂程度取决于家庭成员的数目，他引用“（N2－N）/2”的公式计算家庭关系的次数。家庭成员的相对减少，使家庭人际关系由复杂走向单纯，传统大家庭中那种复杂的人际关系（如连襟、妯娌）逐渐消失。独生子女家庭成员间人际关系的简单化使家庭成员在家庭生活中领会不到联合家庭与主干家庭中复杂的网络化的人际关系，也就体验不到较为全面的家庭生活的社会经验。
（二）家庭成员减少，角色扮演趋向专一化，家庭中的角色失调趋向普遍化
尽管家庭的规模和结构发生很大变化，现代家庭作为一种典型的社会初级群体，成员间相互联系、相互依存、相互补充的角色关系依然存在。但是随着家庭成员数量相对减少，家庭成员所扮演的一些社会角色（如兄弟姐妹）逐渐消失。“4-2-1”结构的现代家庭中，夫妻、祖孙、父母、子女等社会角色将成为家庭角色集中的主要社会角色，家庭成员对于各自在家庭中所扮演的角色及其行为规范和行为模式将有更加明确的认识。但是在社会转型过程中，生活节奏不断加快，生活方式不断变化，人们对家庭生活中各种角色的期望、领悟和实践也会出现不同层次的差异，家庭生活中成员对角色的扮演也会产生矛盾、遇到障碍甚至遭到失败。近年来，离婚率升高、单亲家庭增多等现象也突出地反映了因角色失调现象趋于普遍而导致的家庭问题增多。
（三）成员交往频繁，互动类型趋向多元化，家庭中的凝聚力显著增强
随着社会分化的加速，传统家庭中的生产功能已转移给专门化的社会组织，现代家庭生活的机械化、现代化程度不断提高，使家庭成员在家庭中的闲暇时间明显增多。在家庭环境这种特殊的社会互动情景中，随着家庭成员数量相对减少，成员之间的交往更加密切，成员之间的相互依赖性也日益增强，成员之间的互动类型和方式也更加多样化。家庭对于满足个体在关爱、温情、安全感、归属感等情感方面的需要的能力更加凸显。联合家庭与主干家庭中兄弟姐妹之间可能出现的竞争与冲突等互动形式也将逐渐外移到次级群体中，家庭中民主氛围的日渐浓厚也将使父母与子女之间的强制、顺从与顺应的互动形式转化为竞争与合作，亲子互动逐渐在家庭成员互动方式中占据主导地位。家庭关系中的人际互动和社会交换遵循各尽所能、各取所需的需求法则，以及来自现代社会激烈的竞争压力与威胁都使家庭中的凝聚力显著增强。
（四）大众传媒迅猛普及，代沟加深，家庭成员调节和控制社会影响的压力增大
在传统社会中，社会变动不甚明显，文化的纵向传递使家庭成员几代人在价值观方面的差异并不显著。在现代社会中，随着大众传媒的日益发达，电视、电话的普及以及电脑大量涌入家庭，大众传播媒介进入家庭领域的途径越来越多、周期越来越短，对人们在社会化过程中产生的影响也越来越重要，这种影响表现出形式上的多样性、内容上的丰富性和受众的广泛性。大众传媒对人们的价值观念的导向作用和对人们行为活动的暗示作用不仅使家庭在几代人之间出现了代差现象，而且也导致了同代家庭成员之间的各种价值观差异。而在社会转型期，这种心理差异现象的时间间隔已经明显缩短。尤其在独生子女家庭中，儿童没有同代人，这就进一步加剧了代沟的深度和宽度。家庭成员之间同时并存着多元的价值观也对增强家庭凝聚力和形成共同的家庭目标存在一定的影响，在各种信息的接收过程中，成员自觉调节和控制有效信息从而达到家庭和谐、统一的压力也不断增大。
二、社会转型期独生子女家庭教育功能的形态和特点
我国历来非常重视家庭教育，发挥家庭的教育功能已成为一种悠久的民族文化传统。但是，随着传统的计划经济体制向市场经济体制的转轨以及改革开放的不断深入，家庭生活方式发生了根本变化，特别是随着知识经济时代的来临，知识智力已成为资本的象征，家庭教育的积极性更是有增无减，传统的家庭教育受到了不同程度的挑战与冲击，家庭的教育功能也呈现出一些新的形态和特点，主要表现在以下方面：
（一）家庭在基本生活技能方面的教导作用被弱化
初始社会化是发生在生命早期的社会化。从时间上说，初始社会化在整个社会化过程中所占的比例比较小，但却是整个社会化的基础。个体在儿童期时适应环境的能力十分贫乏，无获取衣食的本领，需要家庭给予多方面照料，但随着儿童的逐渐长大，家庭就要教给他衣食住行的基本生活技能。在科学技术日新月异的现代社会，人们的生活内容大为丰富，基本生活技能也随之复杂多样，家庭在这些基本生活技能的教导上所处的地位就显得愈加重要、愈发不可替代。遗憾的是，在独生子女家庭中，家庭教育的这一功能被普遍弱化了。家庭教育的最终目的是帮助孩子脱离父母走向独立，成功地构筑自己的生活，但是独生子女家庭中父母（包括祖父母）对子女过分娇宠、溺爱，凡事包办代替。殊不知父母的包办代替剥夺的是孩子对于基本生活技能的学习和实践机会，最终导致的是孩子缺乏最基本的生活技能，孩子独立生活的能力和生存适应能力非常差。初始社会化过程正是儿童养成良好行为习惯的至关重要的时期，家长无微不至的关爱和越俎代庖，不仅造就了孩子任性、懒惰、自我中心的性格，而且会耽误孩子动手能力的发展，形成奢侈浪费的作风。家庭教育应该坚持理性，否则孩子就会在父母最好的动机下养成最坏的习惯。
（二）家庭在社会规范、道德情操形成方面的教导作用被异化
受教育者作为一个社会人，要想在社会中立足必须具备一定的社会价值观念，遵守一定的行为规范和道德准则。家庭是一个人最初学会适应的社会环境，作为一个初级群体，家庭受教育者与其父母、祖辈及同辈群体发生着最初的社会互动，家庭生活的行为规范也是个体最初接触到的社会规范。在独生子女家庭中，父母的言行成了受教育者的唯一参照系，子女把父母的需要、态度、个性、意志、价值观和情感作为认同的对象，通过学习、模仿，逐渐内化形成自己的一整套行为方式和道德信念的体系。父母们作为家庭教育的主导者，其自身的人格素养、言谈举止、待人接物的方式等等，对儿童产生最早最直观的影响教育。著名心理学教育专家蒋政华曾提出这样一个等式：“5+2=0”，他这样解释：五天的学校教育，加上两天的家庭教育，由于在教育上的抵触和矛盾，实际的教育效果产生对冲，让孩子无所适从，最后的教育效果为“0”。除了教育要求、教育方式、教育评价标准的不同，家长的言行不一或者家长潜意识中出现的社会失范行为，都导致家庭在教导社会规范、形成道德情操方面所起的正面作用被异化。
（三）家庭在生活目标、个人理想志趣形成方面的指导作用被强化
由于独生子女家庭的增多，中国家长传统的“望子成龙”、“望女成凤”的心理被进一步强化，普遍重视对子女生活目标的指导和人生理想的巩固。家庭教育的积极作用，表现在它能引导受教育者逐渐地适应现实生活并逐渐理解现实生活的意义，注意发展他们的各种正当兴趣和爱好。随着子女年龄的增长，又能帮助他们树立远大的理想和抱负；家长用自己的全部生活经验去影响教育子女，培养他们的进取心，同时又对其倾注着莫大的期望，这样，就使他们在人生的道路上能作出有价值的选择。问题是这种教育功能的强化，如果过于极端，其实际效果就会走向反面。这种由家庭教育负功能导致的家庭问题在社会中也极其普遍。
（四）家庭在个人适应社会角色方面的培养作用被淡化
家庭在培养子女的社会角色过程中起着非常独特的作用。家庭为个体扮演第一个社会角色提供了必要的社会情境，个体对第一个社会角色的期望、领悟和实践也是逐渐在家庭中完成的。家庭本身就是一个角色集，受教育者与家庭成员之间的关系也形成一个角色集，个体在家庭中首次成为一个承担多重角色的主体，也就形成了日后在社会上扮演复杂多样的角色的启蒙经验。独生子女家庭中因复杂人际关系的消失，个体在家庭中获得的角色体验较之联合家庭和主干家庭中大为减少，甚至男女性别角色行为的培养都会受到影响。另一方面，随着社会的不断进步，家庭对其成员的职业角色、阶级角色的决定性作用被削弱，先赋角色向自致角色的转变，也使得家庭在培养受教育者社会角色过程中的作用被明显淡化。
家庭是社会的细胞，尽管家庭的规模小于学校，更小于社会，但家庭教育的功能却远远超过了它的规模。目前，就我国家庭的结构以及成员的组成而言，独生子女家庭对子女教育的重视程度是史无前例的，家庭教育投资的积极性更是稳居世界之前列，但是在家庭教育的具体过程中，独生子女家庭教育的新形态和特点也致使家庭教育陷入新的误区，并对家庭教育的效果形成一定的负面影响，应该引起全社会的高度重视。目前，在中国正深入地进行教育体制、教学内容和教学方法改革的过程中，家庭教育也必须予以全力地支持和配合，逐步走出家庭教育的误区，为促进整个国家和民族现代化的进程奠定良好的基础。

STEP 1：词汇升级
词汇升级包括升级词汇的广度和深度。其中前者较好理解，简单地说就是词汇量越大越好，特别是在写作中需要表达同样或者相似意思的时候，如果能够做到多变不重复，那肯定会给阅卷者留下深刻的印象。比如“重要的/主要的/必要的”这个意思，几乎每篇雅思作文中都需要用到，一个important用到底和crucial，paramount，indispensable换着用的差异性是显而易见的。而所说的深度，引用雅思官方评分标准中的原话就是“use less common lexical items”。记住，“大白菜”词汇只能拿到“大白菜”分数。赶紧用sub-standard替换poor-quality， source替换reason，typically替换usually。另外，词汇的灵活运用也是深度的一种体现。比如表达“科技给我们带来好处”，既可以说Technology brings us benefits. 也可以说Technology benefits us. 还可以说We benefit from technology. 又可以说Technology is beneficial to us. 而We are the beneficiaries of technology. 也是一种表达。benefit 这个词的灵活运用充分体现了对词汇的理解和运用能力。
STEP 2：句型升级
在雅思写作的句型方面，一直存在一个误区，就是很多考生认为句型越复杂越长越好。其实不然，姑且撇开写又长又复杂的句子很容易出错不说，单是从语言的流畅性和阅卷者思路的延续性角度来看，这样的表达很可能不但不能给文章加分，反而会弄巧成拙，由于冗长不地道而被扣分。这里句型升级是指句型的变化以及对地道句型表达的模仿和借鉴。比如在探讨现代家庭关系疏远话题的文章中，一种表达是So it is not surprising that they do not feel close to their families. 另一种表达是Little wonder, then, that they feel alienated from their families. 毋庸置疑，后一种表达更能吸引考官的眼球。这种句型上的变化从何而来，并非主观臆想，而是通过大量阅读和模仿原版英文材料的写作手法而来。对于雅思考生来说，如果时间有限，资源有限，那么剑桥系列中写作部分的考官范文和阅读部分的文章就是最好的材料了。比如剑6 P168考官范文的开头：Over the last half century the pace of change in the life of human beings has increased beyond our wildest expectations. This has been driven by technological and scientific breakthroughs that are changing the whole way we view the world on an almost daily basis. 模仿借鉴类似的句型结构运用到考生自己的作文中去，阅卷的考官怎么可能会不认同呢？
STEP 3：内容升级
雅思7分的文章，并非要求考生所写的内容标新立异，独树一帜，只要言之有理、言之有物即可，这是由雅思这种标准化考试的类型所决定的。但并不是说，雅思作文内容就不重要了，而是考官会更关注内容的相关性和内容展开的逻辑性。有些考生很有想法，一写文章就洋洋洒洒一大片，这是好事，但是雅思这种考场作文在时间和字数上的限制决定了考生必须写和话题以及个人观点有最直接关系的内容，不然就会出现偏题或者论证重点不够突出等现象。另一方面，在论证过程中，前因后果得明确点明，同时运用举例、对比、反证等多种论证方法充分证实观点和主题。因此建议考生，在广泛阅读英文材料和优秀范文，积累写作素材的同时，有机会最好也能阅读国外关于大学论文写作的原版书籍资料，了解欧美人士的文章内容构架习惯和常用的论证手段，毕竟雅思作文实际上就是国外大学论文的缩小版，高屋建瓴定会游刃有余。
